GDays Ghana 2014

G|Days Ghana is a community-organized conference with the mission of building an ecosystem of top developers, businesses / decision makers and students in some of the most exciting emerging countries. The event this year was powered by the Google Developer Group and the Google Business Group.The event was organised in two days which was on the 18th and 19th of February respectively

On the I8th of February which was Developers Day was very exciting,The theme for the event was Making The Transition From Developer To Tech Entrepreneur.During the program we had speakers from the tech-business ecosystem like Google,Encodev Lab,Vodafone,Nandimobile and so on,this speakers inspired the youth in they way they can use technology to better our life,one thing i took from the G|Day event organised on 18th February is don't think like an Oil company,think like a smart startup(Alfred Rowe,Ecodev Lab)

On The 19th of February was another exciting g|days,the theme or keynote address was " Making the transition from Developer to Tech Entepreneur".The Keynote was delivered by Estelle the country manager of Google Ghana,she talked about the various trends of business and how one can use tech tools to leverage on them

Google Making Sense Of Data In CUC

Making Sense Of Data is a free online course that enables anybody(student,lectures and so on) to know various ways or trends by which one could gather data,this course is free to everyone and its powered by Google

If you work with data in your job, or are simply trying to understand surveys and research so you can make better decisions, check out the free online course from Google that begins next month.

Making Sense Of Data  is a four-week course intended for the general public—students, teachers, business owners, researchers, journalists—anyone who works with data daily and wants to apply data to practical problems.

Instuctors for the course are Amit Deutsch an Instructional Designer in the engEDU Department at Google and Joe Hellerstein, who manages the Computational Discovery Department at Google.

 In the course you’ll learn about data structure and organization, the steps of the data process, as well as organizing, summarizing, and creating charts from data. You’ll also learn about finding patterns and relationships in data and have the opportunity to complete a final project.


Prerequisites for the Course

  • Access to the Internet from your desktop or laptop computer
  • Google account
  • Familiar with spreadsheets
  • Comfortable using a web browser
  • Statistical knowledge or programming experience are not required

Course Details

The free course is self-paced, runs from March 18, 2014 through April 4, 2014, and is expected to take 10-15 hours to complete.
During the course, you’ll learn to use Fusion Tables, a Google web application for gathering, visualizing and sharing data.
If you complete the final project and final assessment by 8:00PM Pacific Standard Time on Friday, April 4, 2014, you’ll receive a certificate of completion.

Adclass 2014 On CUC Campuse

Adclass 2014 is the class which consist of 50 members or minimum 20 members,this class is an interactive class that would train student on  Central University College(CUC) campus on  google's plateform:Adword,AdSense,Admob,Analytics among others

This avenue would enable student to train,lead and equip fellow student for Google Online Marketing Challenge(GOMC) and expose to online marketing trends and enable them to achieve great results in the competition or challenge.If students are successful in the Adclass they would have the option of being invited to the online marketing lab.

The Adclass for Google Student Club on CUC Campus would provide student with the available resources that would boost their understanding the fundamental of Adwords and essential of online marketing tools,guidelines for AdSense,Analytics etc...

Google Online Marketing Challenge 2014

Once again another year has come for every university in the ecosystem of the world to partake in one of the  most prestigious digital marketing challenge organised by Google,the name of the challenge is called GOMC(Google Online Marketing Challenge)

With this challenge it gives student the chance to leverage on the various ways of marketing through Adwords,moreover it enable every participating who is a non-geek(any course) to get the advantage to partake in this wonderful initiative by Google,student who perform in the marketing of the business would be given prizes and cash prizes from google,also companies that were used for this campaign that won would also be given cash prizes.

Last year (2013) was a very exciting year for the GOMC because over 50,000 student and their professors took part in this competition powered by google in other to improve their Digital Marketing and skill and it was awesome,now its 2014 we looking up to a year that would competitiveness of student world wide.

Opportunity For Pre-University Student (GSOC 2014)

Here's an opportunity for Pre University Students, please share with your networks and any secondary schools that you've been working with.

"The Google Code-in is a global, online contest introducing 13-17 year old pre-university students to open source development that will begin in a couple of weeks on November 18th. This is our fourth year to run the contest, we've had over 1200 students participate in the last 3 years from 71 countries. Students work on tasks in categories such as coding, documentation, outreach, UI and research for 10 open source projects (including KDE, Sahana Software Foundation, Wikimedia, Drupal and Sugar Labs)"
So student whoare in JSS and SSS who have some kind of Coding ability can Take part in the challenge

GOOGLE GROUPS

On the 6th of November, 2013 undertook a training of how to use one of google's apps called GOOGLE GROUPS. One might ask what is google groups? It is a free service from Google Inc. that supports discussion groups, including many Usenet newsgroups, based on common interests.


1.One should first and foremost open the browser(Google chrome ,Mozilla, explorer and so on)
2.When you open any of the browsers go to the address bar at the top of your browser and type Google groups.com in the address bar or another may type google.com and type google groups in the search engine.
3. After opening google groups, one has to create a group . If you are using google groups for the first time, the create group tab is found on the extreem left corner of the google group home page. Click on it and a from will pop up where you will have to provide certain details expected of you.
4.Fill out the details which are very important and apply
5.After you are than creating the group you can search for group to see whether the group.
